Paddon on the charge in Wairarapa

June 3, 2007, 12.35pm. Series leader Hayden Paddon and rookie of the year contender Callum McInnes are on the charge in Leg 2 of the Wairarapa Rally.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 driver Paddon has set his second successive runner-up stage time, completing Special Stage 10 just 1.1 seconds slower than rally leader Richard Mason who has won all four stages today.

That has seen fourth-placed Paddon close the gap to McInnes from 10.4 to 5.7 seconds.

On elapsed time, McInnes runs third behind fellow Subaru Impreza WRX STi driver Mason and Evo 9 pilot Dean Sumner.

McInnes has also sliced into Sumner’s margin, cutting it from seven seconds to 2.4.

Mason, meanwhile, continues to draw away and now leads the rally by 46.3 seconds.
