NZ V8s series leader Paul Radisich says he may be down but he’s not out after being badly hurt in a crash during practice for last month’s Bathurst 1000 Australian V8 Supercar race in New South Wales.
Radisich has told his New Zealand team, HPM Racing, not to “discount me later in the season,” indicating that he may return to the cockpit of the Ford Falcon NZ V8 for the New Year rounds of the BNT series.
But for this weekend’s second round, Radisich has nominated Australian Steve Owen to drive the HPM Ford.
“It’s important (for the team) to keep getting winning results and Steve is in a good position to do that,” says Radisich.
“Steve is a very experienced, fast and consistent driver and is well capable of winning races in the New Zealand V8s series.”
Owen currently leads the V8 Supercar development series in Australia with an almost insurmountable 255-point margin going into the final round in December.
Owen is testing the #777 HPM Racing Ford today and tomorrow, and will drive it for the first time at Pukekohe during official practice on Friday.
