A two-car attempt at breaking both the petrol and diesel NZ distance records has seen the 1, 6, 12 and 18hr marks all shift as the countdown to the 24-hr duration continues at the Manfeild Autocourse.

With six drivers taking two-hour shifts driving the Mack Storey 996 Porsche, they moved the half-way mark distance from 1349km to 1499km and surpassed the 24hr mark with 2hours to run.

In the diesel class, the VW Jetta of Tauranga's Maurice O'Reilly has also eclipsed the previous 12 and 18hr marks after spending 54mins in the pits to repair a damaged CV drive boot only an hour in to the attempt.
