Kayne Scott held a narrow edge in the first NZ V8 practice session, though the first four cars are covered by less than half a second.

Scott leads NZ V8 practice session

April 20, 2007, 3.30pm. Reigning champion Kayne Scott has set the initial pace in practice for the NZ V8 Championship finale at Pukekohe this weekend.

In today’s practice session, Scott piloted the Fujitsu Holden Commodore around the ultra-fast track in 61.728 seconds, 0.161s faster than Angus Fogg in the Caltex Star Mart Ford Falcon.

John McIntyre was third in the BP Ultimate Falcon 0.156s behind Fogg.

Luke Youlden was next in the Powerbeat Falcon (62.262s), followed by Andy Booth’s Commodore (62.296s) and David Besnard (Hydraulink Falcon, 62.337s).

Production Series and Mini qualifying

April 20, 2007, 3.30pm. Dale Williams has put his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 on pole for this afternoon’s first KPMG New Zealand Production Series race.

His 65.470s lap was 0.356s faster than Nathan Coe’s Subaru Impreza WRX.

Third quickest was Trevor Rooderkerk (Evo 9) with 65.936s.

Former TRS star Brent Collins is on pole for the Mini Challenge series races, with a 68.776s lap.

Kevin Cantwell (68.859s) and Eddie Bell (69.053s) are next.
