Crew spends holiday period building race cars from replacement shells.
Porsche GT3 racers, Rodney Forbes and Courtney Letica, start this weekend’s round of the 2008/2009 Battery Town series at Timaru with brand-new bodyshells.
Both their cars were badly damaged at the last round and the team has spent much of the holiday period transferring the running gear into new Porsche 997 body shells air-freighted from Porsche Motorsport in Weissach, Germany.
“It’s been a massive task for the boys,” says Triple X Motorsport technical director, Todd Bickerton. “We had to sacrifice our Christmas/New Year holidays (and) the guys have put in some long hours (the outfit runs another four GT3s).
“(But) we got ahead enough to have a couple of days off for New Year’s.”
