Multiple Sprint Car champion Kerry Jones took the chequer in the season’s final Sprint Car feature of the season.

Jones wins Springs finale

March 4, 2007. Last night’s Western Springs’ final Sprint Car feature of the season saw former national champion Kerry Jones lead from start to finish.

Jones won from Hamilton racers Greg Pickerill and Dean Brindle with New Zealand champion Jamie McDonald finishing fourth.

Jones finished runner-up in the series behind Allan Wakeling who was a non-finisher last night but already enjoyed an unassailable points lead.

The final TQ Midget feature of the season saw Taranaki racer Scott Joblin move past pole position starter Ross Linklater (Tauranga) with three laps remaining.

Teenager Hayden Williams, who had already wrapped up the Springs National Series ahead of the final, finished third maintaining a perfect run of podium finishes through the seven-round series.

Double-header at Rotorua

March 4, 2007. A double header of full contact action in Rotorua featured the inaugural World of Stocks invitation Stock Car event and the Bay of Plenty Super Stock title.

Rotorua’s Steve Axtens won the World of Stocks event ahead of fellow Rotorua racer Clive Pritchard and Wellington’s Dale Robertson.

Palmerston North drivers posted a 1-2 result in the BoP Super Stocks with Peter Rees taking the title ahead of Peter Bengston and Rotorua’s Dayne Wright.

Super Saloons raced for the Waikato title at Huntly with Aucklander Lance Jennings taking the victory. A clean sweep for Auckland registered drivers saw Peter Hemi defeat Chris Tombleson in a run-off for second place.

Wellington’s Tama Arapere took a home track victory in the North Island Modified Champs at Upper Hutt’s Te Marua Speedway last night.

Duff’s southern crown

March 4, 2007. Christchurch racer Steve Duff returned home from a tour of North Island tracks to win the South Island Sprint Car Champs for a fourth time at Powerbuilt Speedway at Ruapuna.

Lindsey Gilbert was second ahead of Karen Forsey.

Colson wins Baypark Sprints

March 4, 2007. Skinny Colson (New Plymouth) posted his third Baypark Sprint Car feature win of the season ahead. Colson won the 20-lapper from Tauranga’s Colin Entwisle and teenager James Dahm (Tokoroa).
