Fifty World rally Championship wins under his belt, and world champion Sebastien Loeb is hungry for his 51st
The five-times title-holder racked up win 50 in last weekend’s Cyprus Rally which he led from start to finish, though his rivals fought back hard on the gravel stages of the second and third days.
“To have reached our half-century is nice, but it’s just another statistic,” says Loeb. “To tell the truth, my thoughts are already turned to our 51st win.
“(Cyprus) went well for us from start to finish. Our Citroen C4 WRC handled perfectly, both on the loose and on asphalt (the first day was run on tarmac roads with the cars using gravel tyres and suspension set-ups).”
Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena have now taken 13 consecutive podium finishes in WRC rallies.
Citroen Sport boss, Olivier Quesnel, was full of praise for Loeb. “Sebastien’s performance (in Cyprus) was stunning from every angle.
“As usual, he put in a perfectly paced run and started every stage with victory as his ultimate goal.”
