His second successive rally championship event in as many weeks, Christchurch driver Jeff Judd finished today's Canterbury rally in third position, aboard the Hankook Tyres Subaru Impreza.
Following a points opening haul at last weekend's event in the Wairarapa, this weekend was further reward with an elevated points tally by finishing his local event in the Ashley forest region.
Held up in the opening stage by dust from a slowed competitor, Judd had a trouble free run to be in a tight tussle for second place heading in to the last rally stage this afternoon.
Two seconds down on fellow competitor Gary Cliff, Judd was pipped for the higher podium step to finish 18* seconds down for the third step of the podium.
"It's so nice to be on the podium this weekend - and to have a good points haul," said Judd after missing out on reward at the first round in June.
"It was really dusty out there, hardly any wind to clear the way," he added. "But the Hankook tyres made the difference - I was impressed."
Preparing for the final round of the Rally Xtreme series at the South Canterbury event in late October, Judd will line-up against New Zealand's best for the 0800 Boxman Rally of Nelson on September 23-24.
