Hydraulink team front V8 Supercar endurance pairings

Hydraulink Racing Team members Craig Baird and David Besnard will pair WPS Racing regulars Max Wilson and Jason Bargwanna for the Sandown and Bathurst V8 Supercar endurance races.

Hydraulink Racing Team members Craig Baird and David Besnard will pair WPS Racing regulars Max Wilson and Jason Bargwanna for the Sandown and Bathurst V8 Supercar endurance races.

With four experienced drivers in the line-up, management at WPS Racing has spent many hours over the past few months determining the most appropriate pairings for the two WPS Racing Falcons.

In the end it has been decided regular driver Max Wilson will be paired with Besnard in the #8 WPS Racing Falcon while former Bathurst Champion Jason Bargwanna will be joined by Baird, who currently leads the Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup Championship, in the #10 WPS Racing Falcon.

"We have four very capable and experienced drivers in our endurance line up which made our decision on who to pair up in each car a difficult one," said team principal Mark Larkham.

"It wasn't until our test day earlier in the week that the final decision was made but I'm very comfortable with the way things have ended up and I'm looking forward to Sandown.

"I think we've got a good mix in both cars which will hopefully yield a pair of solid results for the team."

WPS Racing had completed its fourth test day at Queensland Raceway earlier this week.

After securing the team's best result of the year in the last round at Oran Park Bargwanna believes this week's test has provided the team with an extra boost as they prepare for Sandown.

"For us the test was about getting everything in order for the endurance events and getting on top of some set up issues that we've been chasing for some time. I'm pleased to say that we achieved our goals for the day," said Bargwanna.

"As a team I think we've got a pretty competitive package across both cars and hopefully we can come away with a good result."

The Betta Electrical 500, round eight of the 2006 V8 Supercar Championship, will be contested at Sandown International Raceway in Melbourne on September 1-3
