Kiwi Brendon Hartley fourth place in the first and second F3 Euro Series races of the weekend at the Euro Speedway Lausitzring
The 19-year-old Red Bull driver took fourth place in the Euro Formula 3 Series, in the second race of the weekend at the EuroSpeedway Lausitzring in eastern Germany.
Hartley repeated the fourth place finish he achieved in the Saturday race to take another three points for his Carlin team. He was the only driver to finish both races at Lausitzring in the top four and was the leading VW runner on Sunday as Mercedes-powered Dallaras finished 1-2-3.
With the top eight finishers in race one reversed for race two, Hartley lined up fifth for the second race. The Red Bull driver made a strong start off the line, although Valterri Bottas got ahead having made a jump start. Hartley passed Henkie Waldschmidt at turn three and once Bottas had taken his drive through for a jump start, Hartley was fourth.
"I made a good start but was pushed wide at the first corner. It was all a little chaotic on the first lap, but I managed to pass Waldschmidt at turn three and maintained a good gap from him for the remainder of the race,” said Hartley.
“It was a bit of a procession from there really and I was racing by myself, but I'm pleased to bring some more points home."
After four races in the Euro F3 Championship Hartley is ninth overall. Bianchi leads with 18pts followed by Merhi and Bird on 16pts, Vernay, 15pts; Vietoris, 15pts; Coletti, 12pts; Bottas and Maki on 9pts and Hartley on 8pts.
The next rounds of the Euro F3 Series are at the Norisring in Germany on June 27-28.
