Exclusion upheld in J-WRC

Concluding the Junior World Rally Championship, upholding the exclusion of PG Andersson from the Rally of Turkey has cost him the 2006 title.

Won by Swede Patrick Sandell, Andersson was still in with a chance during the Rally GB - despite losing his appeal held by the International Court of Appeal earlier in the week.

During the Rally of Turkey Andersson was deemed to have received outside assistance while in a 'light fitting zone'.

The event Stewards excluded him from the event - with the Appeal court backing the decision.

That put Andersson on the back-foot for the weekend's final round at the Rally GB. Duelling with Guy Wilks, Per-Gunnar Andersson had gearbox problems in his Suzuki to drop from outright contention - instead relying on both Sandell and second placed Urmo Aava to also DNF.

Finishing in fourth position for the 1600cc class, Sandell (Renault) overtook Andersson's position to finish three points clear for the 2006 title.

2006 J-WRC Drivers standings

1 Patrick Sandell 32

2 Urmo Aava 31

3 Per-Gunnar Andersson 29

4 Guy Wilks 26
