Kiwi driver Scott Dixon recovered from an early tangle to finish fifth at the Iowa round of the IndyCar series
While battling for the lead, Dixon and Brazilian Helio Castroneves made contact on the 18th lap.
Castroneves' right front wing shredded Dixon's left rear tyre but great driving by both saw them recover their cars.
Castroneves finished two places behind Dixon, who raced conservatively to pick up points.
Dixon's Target Chip Ganassi team mate Dario Franchitti won the race to move into second in the overall standings after seven rounds.
Overall, Dixon is third on 226 points.
