British racer outpaces the field

Leading British F5000 driver gets the best of his Australian and NZ rivals at Phillip Island.

March 11, 2007, 10.45am. British driver Peter Dunn, driving a March, outran Australasia’s best F5000 Tasman Cup Revival Series drivers on day one of the Shannons Phillip Island Classic motor race meeting at Phillip Island, Victoria, yesterday.

Dunn started from grid three and quickly took the lead, chased by fastest qualifier Andrew Robson (Lola) and Aaron Lewis (Chevron).

Dunn opened a two second lead before Australian Robson closed to within two car lengths, but that was as close as he got. Lewis finished third behind Robson.

Defending F5000 Tasman Cup Revival Series champion and current points leader Ian Clements finished fourth in his Lola T332.
