Besnard seeks to regain series lead at Manfeild this weekend
February 14, 2007. Australian David Besnard, the winningest driver in the 2006/2007 NZ V8 Championship with four victories from nine starts, is serving notice that he’s not going cold into this weekend’s round at Manfeild in the Manawatu.
He has tested at the Feilding track once and likes the place.
“I quite enjoyed it actually,” he said this week. “I think it’s another good track. It’ll be nice to be at a place that I don’t have to learn from scratch.”
But he says he realises he’s under pressure to regain the series points lead.
“We need to do it now,” the Hydraulink Ford Falcon driver said this week. “We’ve got four rounds to go so it’s at a point where we need a clean run and get back to the front of the championship.
“It’s a professional team and they’re as hungry for the championship as I am. Everyone has problems and issues. We’ve had ours. It’s just how you deal with them.
“It’s about being best under pressure. So we’re third at the moment – that’s plenty of pressure.”
