NZ V8s racer, Eddie Bell, consolidated his seventh place in the 2008/2009 BNT championship by finishing ninth overall in last weekend’s round at Timaru
Bell, the 2006/2007 Mini Challenge champion, has finished in the top 10 at each of the four rounds run so far.
Bell, who’s in his first full season in NZ V8s, was eighth fastest time in qualifying at Timaru and drove the Independent Fisheries Ford Falcon to eighth and seventh places in the first two races.
He slotted into the top 10 on lap one of the reverse grid finale, but got caught up in an incident that occurred in front of him on lap two and dropped several positions.
Bell worked his way back to a 12th place finish: "it was hard to get through the traffic."
He said the car had a minor flat spot in the engine, and he had struggled with understeer during the weekend, but engineer Luke Dinsdale made some changes that worked.
“My inexperience in these cars means sometimes I struggle to get the right feedback to Luke to get the optimum set-up.
“We're not quite there but we’re close. This weekend's result was a positive one. We haven't lost any ground and that’s good when we only have a one week turnaround before Teretonga."
