Canterbury drivers, Simon and Graham Beirne, plan to make a good showing at their home circuit when the 2008/2009 Enzed V8 Utes Series hits Ruapuna, Christchurch, this weekend
Simon won the last round at Taupo in his Team McDonald's Ford Falcon. His father Graham was sixth overall, and they’re currently fourth and sixth in the points standings.
"We’re looking to build on Taupo and we’re on a silent mission, focused on banking points and bringing the McDonald's Falcon to a round win," says Simon.
"As the series heads south (the next three rounds are in Christchurch, Timaru and Invercargill on successive weekends) we want to remain dominant. That’s easier said than done but we’ll keep our head down, stay focused and try to have a smooth weekend.
“(At Ruapuna) we want to do ourselves, our sponsors and our family proud. It all started at Ruapuna for us. We want a father and son performance here just like Manfeild (the pair qualified first and second in the opening round at the Feilding circuit). That’s the plan.”
