Multiple champion seeks to repeat his 2007 success at Christchurch racetrack.
Reigning Battery Town Porsche GT3 champion Craig Baird says he’s looking forward to this weekend’s 2008/2009 series’ second round at Ruapuna because it’s a challenging racetrack.
“I like Ruapuna because it’s quite a technical track and it’s a track where you’re always doing something.
“Even the straight has a corner in it, which actually makes it really enjoyable – and that’s one reason I’ve always liked the circuit,” says the Triple-X Motorsport team driver who leads the series from Jono Lester after the opening round at Pukekohe.
Ruapuna was good for Baird last year. He won all three races – even after having to fight through the top order after starting at the back of the top six in the reverse grid finale.
“I’m just not a big fan of the reverse grid race,” he says. “People always end up crying their milk got spilled, but at the end of the day you win by being fastest.
“That’s being fair and square, not having to come through by starting several rows back.”
