Volkswagen produces one millionth T5

The tornado red T5 Transporter Van was produced at Volkswagon Commercial Vehicle's Hanover plant

One million vehicles produced is well on the way to beat the approximately 1.7 million predecessor model T4’s that were built in Hanover.

Last year alone Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles delivered approximately 178,000 T5s to customers. The current series started production on 3 March, 2003.

The T5 series is made up of the Transporter, Caravelle, Multivan and California models. Each individual model is made up of a number of individual model variants.

Grant Doull, Manager of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in New Zealand says, “There is no doubt the great legacy of the Transporter brand has been synonymous world-wide with versatility, practicality, safety and reliability. The current T5 model is also well accepted in the New Zealand market and we carry the Transporter, Caravelle, Multivan and California models to satisfy both loyal Volkswagen van buyers and for those looking to join our van family!

“We are very excited about the future prospects of the T5 series, particularly with reference to some exciting developments in the upcoming ‘facelift’ T5 due for NZ release in early 2010.”
