March 21, 2007, 7am. Volkswagen is evaluating the Polo BlueMotion for the New Zealand market, saying it would be “the most environmentally friendly passenger car available here, bar none.”
The Polo BlueMotion’s low emissions and high fuel economy have been hailed since its introduction in mid-2006. Its advanced 1.4-litre diesel consumes just 3.9 litres per 100km and has CO2 emissions of just 102g/km.
“That’s nearly a magical number in the context of current discussions on global warming,” the company says.
VW used 102 Polo BlueMotions as shuttles during this month’s Geneva Motor Show and also introduced the Passat BlueMotion to “demonstrate that minimal fuel consumption is also feasible in the larger car classes.”
