March 22, 2007, 7am. Toyota’s marking the 40th anniversary of the Corolla in New Zealand with the new 10th-generation model, said by the company to be “more muscular in its proportions” with strong Euro influences.
Corolla sales in New Zealand have exceeded 197,700 units. Last year it became the second most popular vehicle after the Holden Commodore and reached the number one spot in June and August.
The Corolla has been the top seller in Japan for 36 of the past 40 years.
It’s sold in 140 countries and built in 16. Cumulative global sales are approaching 32 million; more than 20 million sold outside Japan
