Ford’s global purchasing vice-president has predicted record auto supplier bankruptcy filings during February, including “some big-name Tier 1 suppliers.”
This comes in the wake of the falling fortunes of Detroit’s Big Three. Ford has just had the worst result in its 103-year history, losing $US12.7 billion. It has a four-year turnaround plan in action but predicts worse is still to come.
