VW celebrates 25 million Golfs

April 9, 2007, 7am. Volkswagen is celebrating its 25 millionth Golf, a 1.4 TSI fitted with DSG transmission and finished in tornado red.

The first Golf was assembled in 1974 and within three years passed the one million mark.

Last year 716,000 were sold worldwide – that’s nearly 2000 a day.

Reason enough to emigrate

Some 4.5 million drivers have points on their licence for speeding. One in five are one conviction away from a driving ban.

There are 6000 speed cameras monitoring drivers.

Speed camera fines can be as much as $7100 for a first offence and in the past three years drivers have paid out nearly $900 million in speeding tickets.
