It's shaping up as a watershed year for Mitsubishi
March 12, 2007, 9am. It’s shaping up as a watershed year for Mitsubishi, which is relaunching the two products it says are “the essence” of its range – Pajero and Lancer.
The Pajero is being launched to media and dealers on the back of its 12th Dakar rally win and executives have confirmed that when the new Lancer launches around September its image icon, the Evolution X, will be right behind it.
New Zealand will be the first country outside Japan to get the latest Evo.
Mitsubishi’s aiming to regain lost Lancer business with the new car, which will be larger. It will be pitched against rivals up to such medium segment leaders as the Mazda 6 and Ford Mondeo.
The company has also launched a V6 version of its popular Outlander crossover that uses a conventional automatic gearbox, rather than a CVT found on the 2.4 four cylinder models.
