Toyota, Subaru mix and match
May 25, 2007, noon. Subaru’s factory near Chicago in the USA has started building the Toyota Camry (pictured) for North America, using Toyota’s production technology alongside its own line for Legacy, Outback and Tribeca vehicles.
In other co-operation arrangements, Toyota is taking advantage of high-speed battery recharging technology used in the Subaru R1e; and Subaru is testing some of its models with Toyota’s hybrid drive system.
Warm fuzzies at Ford UK
May 25, 2007, noon. They’re feeling good at Ford, which has again been named by the Business in the Community organisation as the most responsible corporate citizen among automotive firms in Britain.
Ford was commended for being the first motor company to publish annual sustainability reports, for offering one of the broadest low-CO2 vehicle ranges and for continuing to research a wide range of environmentally-friendly vehicle technologies.
