May 25, 2007, 2pm. BMW is starting trials of 100 Hydrogen 7 cars (pictured), derived from the 7 Series luxury sedan.
Eight have gone to Britain where they’ll be used to support high-profile events and to transport key participants at industrial, business and political conferences.
Said a BMW spokesman: “It’s time to engage with business leaders and politicians in order to progress the development of a hydrogen highway – the fuelling and infrastructure requirements that make hydrogen a viable fuel for the consumer.”

The Minister, Ian Pearson (seen with Land Rover MD Phil Popham, left), was visiting to look at advanced diesel and hybrid technologies.
While the technology is being developed, Land Rover has introduced a CO 2 offset programme said to counterbalance all emissions from its factories and carbon emissions for the first 72,000km of each new vehicle’s use.
