It's technology of a slightly different kind as Rolls-Royce announces an armoured version of the Phantom
April 14, 2007, 7am. It’s technology of a slightly different kind as Rolls-Royce announces an armoured version of the Phantom, “offering substantial security benefits for those customers that require the highest levels of personal protection.”
The Phantom Armoured (pictured) is almost indistinguishable from the standard car.
It uses fibre composites and special purpose steel in the bodywork, while the glazed area is constructed from sheets of thickened glass.
A polycarbonate layer is fitted to the inside for extra passenger protection.
It will be available initially in Europe and the Middle East.
