Dealers fined for SIN breaches

July 11, 2007, Midday. Dealers are likely to be paying closer attention to some basics of the business after the Commerce Commission fined six for not showing the right information on Supplier Information Notices (SIN) on used cars.

They were fined a total of almost $11,000 and told to clean up their act.

The commission says buyers need to be able to compare vehicles when shopping, and it’s essential for used car dealers to display the information.

Three of the dealers were in Greater Wellington, the others in North Island provincial centres.
