Hummer’s H3 will be sold in New Zealand, through HSV dealers, from as early as June. It should appear here at much the same time as its Australian introduction.
This American will come from Port Elizabeth in South Africa, where both left- and right-hand drive versions are made for international markets. A 180kW 3.7-litre five-cylinder petrol motor will be fitted, but a diesel is said to be in the pipeline.
Unlike the original Humvee and its civilian H1 Hummer derivative, the H3 is little more than a Chevy pickup with a new body and is the smallest member of the range.
Hummer’s total sales increased 26.1 per cent in 2006, thanks largely to the H3.
