Honda, Suzuki shine in March sales

 

April 13, 2007, 7am. Although Toyota topped the new car market in March and for the quarter, hot spots were the performance of Honda and Suzuki.

Honda’s sales took the brand into the clearly defined top-four and Suzuki, whose Swift (pictured) was the second highest-selling model in March, took the brand to an unprecedented sixth place.

Toyota made 2779 sales for a 14.3 percent market share; Holden was second with 2509 and 12.9 percent; Honda accelerated to third with 2019 sales and 10.4 percent; Ford captured 2011 sales and 10.4 percent; and Mazda accounted for 1239 sales for 6.4 percent market share.

Motorcycles continued their great run. The 1359 total in March was up 11 percent over the same time last year. First quarter sales were 3502, five percent over the 2006 first quarter.
