April 24, 12.30pm. Land Rover has chosen an appropriate date – June 6, D-Day – to unveil its new Freelander medium-sized SUV to New Zealand media, but the public’s already getting a preview.
Dealers are taking turns sharing the couple of examples just arrived in the country for customer evenings to show off the vehicle that retains little more than the name of its predecessor.
Meanwhile its importer, Motorcorp Distributors, has been busy introducing a diesel version of the stately Jaguar XJ sedan; the supercharged XKR sports coupe (a convertible’s coming next Spring); and the Volvo C30 hatch.
The trio represent quite a price spread, the Volvo just under $50,000 and the XKR convertible $205,000 more.
