Chrysler NZ feeling confident

Renewed confidence is surging through the Chrysler network in New Zealand following its partnership in the United States with the Fiat Group to develop new, high tech vehicles to boost the future fortunes of the company

One of the first signs of confidence was the opening of a new outlet in Hawke's Bay (Jeff Gray European) which began the Sales, Servicing and offering of Parts for the Chrysler Brands on 1 July.

Chrysler is looking to expand more with additional outlets in New Zealand.

“After the roller coaster that we’ve been on these past few months, it’s great to have certainty and confidence about our future and get on with the job of selling great cars,” says David Smith, General Manager of Chrysler New Zealand.

“The feedback I have received from customers and dealers regarding the formation of the new company in the United States and the decision by Fiat to share technical knowledge and assistance on future product development is one of excitement. Everyone believes this company can now put the past behind it and look forward to a wonderful future”.

Jeff Gray European is a BMW and Mini dealership, with showrooms in Palmerston North, Wellington and Christchurch, as well as Hastings.

According to, Jonathan Strong, Dealer Principal for Hastings: “The chance to work with the Chrysler brands is a logical and exciting prospect.”

Strong says the Jeff Gray Group has been looking to introduce an additional brand to enhance its business in Hawkes Bay and the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands offer significant benefits.

“It’s a completely new database of customers to those we currently deal with and will help us to expand into new areas. There are some excellent products in the current range, particularly the Chrysler 300C, Jeep four-wheel-drive range and the Dodge Nitro and Journey, which all stand out from the crowd.”
