Chinese carmaker shows interest in Volvo

Chinese outfit, Geely, is reported to have resumed talks with Ford about buying Swedish carmaker Volvo

Ford wants to sell the brand as it slims down and works on its one-brand programme.

Geely had been interested in buying Volvo earlier this year but wouldn’t pay the $US6 billion Ford was asking.

However, it’s understood Ford may have reduced that price as it speeds up its reorganisation in the face of the accelerating global credit and automotive sales crisis, and the talks have re-started.
