Sneak peek at Tiguan

March 31, 2007, 2pm. Volkswagen is launching an internet microsite for its Tiguan compact 4WD, providing access to images and information three months ahead of its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

It promises first view of the car’s final shape when it’s unveiled in June.

Small demand equals bigger return

March 31, 2007, 2pm. Values of under-1300cc cars have risen by 30 percent at auction during the last year says Turners Auctions.

“The larger-engined cars have seen a significant reduction in the average value which can be attributed to both fluctuating oil prices and a desire to reduce vehicle CO2 emissions,” said marketing chief, Todd Hunter.

Despite that, Turners says the Subaru Legacy is New Zealand’s top selling second-hand vehicle.

Toyota remains the favourite make and accounts for eight percent of the total used market.

Competitively priced imported Europeans such as BMW and Volkswagen have meant a substantial increase in the number of second-hand European cars sold in the last year.
